Hello aidpage people! This is certainly a different look and feel! I haven't been on for a while. I'm still working 12/7, but working on cutting down on the hours in next few months.

I did finally move a single mom in to do light housework in exchange for room and board for a few months. They were about to be homeless and had no where to go. All the shelters were full. Children don't belong in a shelter anyway.

They have recently moved out and are staying with family members in another state now and I'm currently looking to replace them. It broke my heart when they moved out, but I'm glad they came.

Single Mom Homeless in Missouri

I am in dire need of a place to rent or stay until I can get a place. My 11 yr old son & I have been sleeping in a Uhaul for a few nights I am so tired & so sick of crying but I dont let my son see me cry. I pray no stop but I am almost out of faith. I was in a serious situtation in Texas so a lady my son knew from his school helped us get a Uhaul to get out of that state I was promised a place to stay when we got here to Missouri only to be fooled & now we are not doing so good & I dont want to lose our clothes & the only things my son has in this Uhaul I just want to have a roof & I will be able to pay rent come the 1st or so but right now a motel room would be great just to lay down. God knows how the economy is now & everyone is having problems I dont wish anything for me mainly my son who doesnt deserve this by any means. I will keep my head up when I can but I am running on fumes :(

our first Christmas

Hello, I have 2 little girls, one 3 the other 2 mos old. I recently got laid off from my job and wont be able to provide a christmas for my family. I'm considered low income, extremely below poverty level. We don't have much money at all; its a struggle just to provide food on our table weekly. Also may have to relocate to a shelter because I can no longer afford our rent. I would appreciate any help, my children should be able to experience the holidays. Thank you for taking the time to read this, any help/assistance is appreciated.

Verizon Supports Hoosier Nonprofits With $400,000

Verizon Supports Hoosier Nonprofits With $400,000: Struggling Domestic Violence Agencies Receive More Than Half Of Grant Funds

November 4, 2011 by admin

Verizon announced today its commitment to Indiana nonprofits with donations amounting to more than $400,000 and more than half of the grant money dedicated to struggling domestic violence agencies.

“We know domestic violence agencies and shelters are hurting now and we’ve stepped up to meet the needs of families that they serve across Indiana,” said John Granby, president–Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. “We don’t ever want a shelter to be forced to turn people away.”

From cash grants to employee matches, Verizon remains committed to helping as many agencies as possible in Indiana.

Just this summer, a number of organizations reported a spike in domestic violence calls for help brought on by the pressure of a souring economy. Agencies began struggling with waiting lists at shelters and extended stays and also experienced increased calls for help to crisis hotlines.

“An organization like ours could not continue with the outreach that we do without support from committed partners like Verizon,” said Melissa Pershing, executive director of The Julian Center, one of the state’s largest domestic violence programs. “Verizon’s grant is helping us bring families that have been impacted by domestic violence out of poverty and into financial self-sustainability through nationally recognized programs such as Circles of Support and Bridges out of Poverty.”

Funding comes from the Verizon Foundation and through the nationally recognized HopeLine® program from Verizon Wireless. At Indiana’s 36 company-owned retail stores and through pre-paid mail options, Hoosiers can easily donate no longer used phones and accessories to the HopeLine program.

Verizon provides those refurbished wireless phones and airtime to nonprofit organizations for use by domestic violence survivors, as well as cash grants to local shelters and nonprofits that focus on prevention, awareness and advocacy through those donations.

Last year, 731 phones and more than 2.1 million free minutes were contributed to Indiana shelter residents to make those connections.

“In the recent years of increased financial constraints on government and non-profit budgets, contributions from private sector sources like the Verizon Foundation have become even more important,” said Michelle Bumgarner, director of victim advocacy programs for the Indiana Attorney General’s office. “While our office assists survivors with services such as the Address Confidentiality Program, the financial support from community partners, like Verizon, helps make the essential and often life-saving work of local advocates and shelters possible.”

(The Address Confidentiality Program is a free service of the attorney general’s office that allows victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking to maintain a confidential address.)

Across Indiana, 19 domestic violence organizations are being supported by Verizon, including the following in central Indiana:

Domestic Violence Network of Greater Indianapolis
Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence
The Julian Center
Muslim Alliance of Indiana
Salvation Army
Sheltering Wings Center for Women

“With Verizon’s support, we were able to help 317 Hoosiers who have suffered from domestic violence—including 203 children—escape from a violent situation,” said Susan Solomon, divisional services director for the Salvation Army in Indiana. “Our Emergency Bed Space Program was developed to ensure that when traditional shelter spaces in Indianapolis are full, those fleeing from violence will still have a safe place to go. Without this program, these individuals would have been forced to remain in a violent situation, live in their car or try to access a potentially unsafe situation.”

Verizon is also reminding its more than 500 Indiana employees to give during this time of escalated need. The Verizon Foundation supports personal philanthropic giving made by Verizon employees and retirees. Employees can earn cash grants for the qualified nonprofits where they volunteer at least 50 hours, and can have their charitable donations go further by utilizing the foundation’s Matching Gifts Programs.

“The need is great and the time is now,” Granby said. “We’re asking everyone in our company to step up during Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, and we hope others follow our lead.”

Please help us

iam out of my motel room due to nonpayment. im staying the next 2 nites with a complete stranger that saw me and the kids and dog telling the manager to go ahead and call the cops 4 nonpayment. The stranger paid the room charge 4 yesterday that we stayed without paying ,then offered to let us stay with him to barter 4 paying it. We still have no money. If anybody can help us with any money we need it. I can still repay you on the first of June.
My sons birthday is in two days. I have nothing to give him. Please pray for us to get any funding to stay at any place until we get my check.
I had no other choice to go the shelter takes only so many people a day.
Is there anyone in in my area that has a room, mobile home,or apt with all bills paid for 600 bucks?
A miracle happened minutes after the stranger paid the late charge for Me not to go to jail some lady told me to not cry and handed me 3 bus passes and hugged me told me "if you need to get out from his house use the bus passes" then smiled and said "God hears all prayers".
Can anybody help us out with any place to stay?
Thank you for your prayers.
Im needing someone to watch my big dog until I get my check IF I turn to a shelter they wont take him .
I dont know what to do.

Catholic Community Services, for Families In Need

Catholic Community Services
•Various regions of the United States possess local charities known as Catholic Community Services. These entities are sponsored by local Catholic Diocese but provide for the basic needs of people from every religious background.

Catholic Community Services offers many different types of assistance, including emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities, hot prepared meals, and various homeless resources including access to showers, laundry facilities, and haircuts. In some areas, Catholic Community Services may operate a food bank, provide pregnancy or newborn needs, and addiction recovery programs.

The best way for families in need to discover if there is a Catholic Community Services in their area is to conduct a Google search with the word "Catholic Community Services" followed by their location, such as Seattle, Salt Lake City, or New York.
Community Resources
•Families who are struggling to clothe their kids or purchase toys on the holidays can benefit from watching the local classifieds. Websites such as Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org) have sections dedicated to items that other people are giving away for free. Used clothes, toys, and even household appliances can be found at no cost.

To find free stuff in your area, shop online classifieds for free sections. Some newsletters, such as The Freecyle Network, allow local groups to share information on local freebies. Find a local group and sign up at http://www.freecycle.org/.
Government Assistance
•Although not charities, federal and state government agencies provide assistance to low-income families. Food assistance, medical insurance, and emergency financial support may be available to eligible low income individuals and families.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers food stamp benefits on an EBT card that can be used exactly like an ATM card at most grocery stores. Eligibility is primarily determined by the size of the family compared to the family's income. To find out if you are eligible, complete an online screening tool at http://www.snap-step1.usda.gov/fns/ or apply at a local SNAP office. Find an office near you by searching at http://www.fns.usda.gov/fsp/outreach/map.htm.

Medical and financial programs vary by state. To determine your eligibility, visit your local welfare office.

HELP FOR FAMILIES AND THOSE IN NEED!!!

Feeding Programs

We distribute meals on a regular basis where people who are homeless, hungry and less fortunate gather. Since the initiation of the program in 2002, Friends In Need has been a reliable source in providing weekly support and hope to individuals in need. Check out the schedules and locations of our feeding programs in New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Pensacola.

Family Support Program
Dedicated to helping low income families who are experiencing economic hardship, we provide for the basic necessities of living, such as food, clothing, household items and toiletries. The program is intended to help families become more self-reliant.

Family Pantry Program
We provide food packages and non-perishable food, fresh meats, fruit and vegetables to families who are unable to or have difficulty obtaining food on a regular basis. We work with local shelters in distributing the food packages.

Other Special Programs
Friends in Need holds special programs (i.e. Holiday Gift Giving, Thanksgiving meals) during holidays. We also give extra treats at our feeding programs during these times such as winter accessories and toiletries.

I need help with my kids.

Hello, today is my first day on this site. I'm here because I really need help with my kids. I have 2 kids and 1 on the way. The problem is I have nowhere to live right now and I'm starting to worry. I am having the baby next month and things aren't looking to good for me right now. I was in the hospital for over 2mths because my water broke twice and I almost lost the baby. The worst part about it all is I have to have a c-section so staying in a shelter is going to be very hard for me. I plan on working once I heal but, for now I really need help. If someone know of any programs that can help me please write me back.

About kellettgirl1247447

My family is facing eviction, which we have to be out in a month unless we can come up with some of the rent before the 13 of this month.. The kids are young, and are having to go without things. Like food, using cloth diapers on my 2 year old little brother because we can't afford real diapers. This isn't a scam, or me just wanting money, this is real. I have the eviction notice, as well as bills if anyone wants to check up on it.. but PLEASE go to this site, and if a few hundred people just donate a dollar, then maybe (even if we do have to get out) we will be able to afford food, and temporary shelter. If you can't donate, then prayers are very, very, very welcomed.. My name is Nina and we are the smith family. God will know!.. if you'd like to donate please go to this site.. http://smithfamilylove.chipin.com/my-family

God bless Y'all
